POLO PRINCES RIDE OUT FOR BFF

BRITISH Forces Foundation supporters had the rare opportunity to see two generations of the House of Windsor playing against each other in the annual polo day at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

HRH The Prince of Wales and his team took on Prince William and Prince Harry in the Commandant's team in the final match .

They played some first class polo in a first class setting and the young princes - joined by the BFF director Mark Cann and Gabriel Donoso - ran out victors seven and a half goals to six.

The tournament was organised by the Combined Services Polo Association with the BFF the chosen charity for the second year running.

Earlier the Le Marchant Cup was won by a Sandhurst team which defeated the RAF by four goals to two and a half. And in the annual contest for the Sudan Cup between the Combined Services and the East coast of the US Polo Association the home side won by six goals to two.

Present were BFF trustee Major General Arthur Denaro who acted as referee, and charity chairman Jim Davidson.

The event - described by polo's PQ International magazine as "one of the most historic ever played" - was a huge success both on and off the field.

"The BFF are hugely grateful to the sponsor of the day, Mr Karan Judge of Cesat International Plc for his phenomenal generosity and donation to the charity," said Mr Cann.

"Tim Gannon and John Goodman also made a substantial contribution to the Sandhurst polo club and CSPA. Both introduce and encourage young players into the game."

Among the spectators enjoying the day were long-term BFF supporters Roshan Sadri and Humayun Mughal.
