TV SHOW SUCCESS -
MILLIONS of viewers tuned in to watch stars from the worlds of cinema, comedy, music and sport in a British Forces Foundation and BBC television spectacular on Christmas Day.

The show was filmed on board HMS Invincible and introduced by HRH The Prince of Wales. Among the performers were the award-winning pop group with their very own hit TV series S Club 7, Martine McCutcheon and the all-girl band Atomic Kitten.

Comedy was provided by British Forces Foundation chairman Jim Davidson and Bradley Walsh. And legendary actor Sir John Mills was also among the star-studded line-up as were two of Britain's Olympic gold medal heroes Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pincent.

PLAYING A ROUND WITH JIM - SWINGERS and hookers were par for the course at Jim Davidson's Golf Classic held at the superb Gatton Manor Hotel Golf and Country Club in Surrey.

Among the celebrities were football hardman Neil 'Razor' Ruddock, TV's snooker supremo John Virgo, and comedian Dave Lee. Guest of honour was Sir Rex Hunt, former Governor of the Falkland Islands and a British Forces Foundation trustee.

After the day's sporting action followed a champagne reception, dinner, prize giving and charity auction with Jim Davidson.

The event, sponsored by the IT company ML Integration and ITT & NS, raised some £25,000 for the British Forces Foundation.

POLO'S GREAT RESULT- THE sport of polo proved a real fund-raising money-spinner for the British Forces Foundation in 2000.

Tournaments at both Sandhurst and Hurtwood together made in excess of £30,000 for the charity.
And polo continues its support in 2001, again at Hurtwood and also at Tidworth with the prestigious Rundle Cup.

AN INVINCIBLE SETTING - HMS Invincible was the setting for a grand gala dinner that raised £110,000 for the British Forces Foundation and The King George's Fund for Sailors.

Guests were greeted by Commanding Officer Captain Rory McLean and the First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Michael Boyce, and were treated to a superb Beat Retreat and Sunset Ceremony by the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines.

There was a speech by Sir Tim Rice and entertainment courtesy of the British Forces Foundation chairman Jim Davidson.

Both charities were delighted with the funds raised from the evening.

HAVING A BALL AT THE GROSEVNOR - A GREAT night was had by all at The British Forces Foundation May 2000 Ball, which took place at the Grosvenor House hotel in Park Lane and raised £35,000.

Guest of Honour was Falkland war veteran Denzil Connick who spoke about the importance of the charity's work. Having fought in the Falklands and having his career with the army cut short due to being injured, he spoke frankly about the needs of servicemen to have their morale boosted when they are living and working in atmospheres and conditions most of us would be unable to bear.

Celebrities including, Barbara Windsor, Jodie Kidd, Will Carling, Tony Hadley, Rio from Gladiators and Kenny Jones came to support the evening as well as Falkland war veteran Simon Weston. Admiral Sir Peter Abbott, Vice Chief of Defence Staff hosted a table of top military personnel, keen to show support for the Foundation.
